From the design studios in London to the engineering labs in Cranfield to the manufacturing plant in Sunderland; there is British innovation and know-how in every QASHQAI. And that’s not going to change any time soon. Nissan has announced it will continue its commitment to strengthening the UK economy by securing 6,000 jobs, both direct and indirect, through the UK supply chain, and investing £192 million in the UK economy.
The commitment ensures the continued production of the hugely-popular QASHQAI and QASHQAI+2 in Britain, the one-millionth of which recently came off the line at the Sunderland plant.

Good for UK economy
Political leaders hailed Nissan’s commitment to strengthen the UK economy.
Prime Minister David Cameron said: "This investment from Nissan is fantastic news and a great demonstration of the strength and vitality of the UK car industry. That future manufacturing and R&D has been secured is a tribute to the skill, expertise and hard work of Nissan's UK workforce.”
In addition to the QASHQAI, the Sunderland plant also produces the NOTE and JUKE. In 2012 Nissan will produce the lithium batteries used to power the ground breaking electric LEAF, followed by the opening of the LEAF vehicle plant at the beginning of 2013.
